I'm a passionate about EE - I also have a software background that spans both embedded and high performance systems, and approach things from a 'systems design'/'architecture' perspective. These days I run a SaaS company whilst pursuing more experimental stuff; I'm happy to help wherever I can.

Hi all,

I've been an embedded systems engineer for many years. I run a design consultancy and love tinkering with / repairing things in what spare time I have. Due to commitments I'll probably lurk more than actively participate but happy to help if I can.

Best regards,

Jon

Hey,

I'm an interface developer with the NHS with most of my experience in software - web dev, JavaScript, python and objectscript.

I've just started playing with raspberry pis and esp-32s and have a couple of initial projects on the go at the moment.

What with young kids and working full time I might not be able to commit to too much but I am definitely interested to see where this goes.

Hi Robert
If you haven't already discovered, Claude is really pretty good at ESP32
(and Pi Pico) programming - and definitely handy at spotting bugs :-)

Thanks for welcoming me to your group.

I‘ve been interested in Technology and Electronics since about the age of 10.

I have recently retired after 40 years working in Defence Electronics and Custom Test Equipment.

My Prime hobby is Amateur Radio having being a licenced amateur for 50 years holding the callsign G4KXQ. I’m also interested in microprocessors, initilally Arduino processor but recently moved to ESP32 and RP2040 Raspberry Pi Pico normally related to interfacing to Amateur Radio. I also own two 3-D printers for the manufacture of brackets and enclosures associated with my projects.

I’m looking forward to contributing to the club in any capacity.

Hi Everyone,

I am retired, but spent much of my career in electronics, initially as an engineer in the early days of 8 bit microcontrollers and computers, though eventually ending up in the sales side of semiconductors. I have always been a tinkerer, and from time to time still enjoy building things. Often these days it will be with an ESP8266 or ESP32 and usually in support of some home automation project using Home Assistant.  I have some experience of 3D printing and laser cutters as I used to be involved with the Barnstaple library FabLab before it was closed down. I have a bit of a weakness for Nixie displays and as a result have far too many clocks around the house using those!

Regards,

Neil

Hello I'm Carl I have a large interest in home automation, IT/networking, 3D printing. Looking at all the post you lot seem to have a lot to teach me more than I can share with you but I am happy to be here and meet some like minded people and learn a load.

I'm a Retired Computer Network, Communications, and Security Engineer. Interested in electronics from secondary school. Built my first 8 bit micro in 1978, a Transam Tuscan, and 16 Bit colour micro in 1983, a Powertran Cortex (Texas Instruments) which I still have running. Qualified but silent Radio Amateur G1KBO, worked at GKA for a few years. Enjoy building electronics hardware. Written some B.A.S.I.C, C++, Windows, Unix, Shell Scripting. I'm very encouraged to find this group and look forward to hearing about projects. I'm half way through protyping an Expansion RAM/ROM card for the Cortex. Already used PCL for several other pcb's. A 3D printer is also gnawing away at my resistance.

Hello Mike,

Thanks for the Welcome.

The name is correct, I’m Andrew Kendall.

Depending upon the Callbook age it might say my location was Bristol. I moved just North of Holsworthy 11 years ago.

I’m afraid my modified Pye Westminster and homebuilt HF Transceiver are long gone, just after I left GKA, but the urge never leaves, and Holsworthy ARC Don G0RQL lives a mile away!

73 Andy

Hi Andy
Welcome.
I must have passed your location yesterday. I went to Holsworthy Junior
School helping to run a Robotics Workshop for years 5 and 6.

Ham Radio has definitely changed over the last 20 years with lots of modes
and technologies now in use. Perhaps worth another look? No Morse code and
free re-issue of licences

Regards

Mike

Hi Mike,

We must have driven past each other; I went to Barnstaple yesterday!

I’m glad you are catching the kids young and engaging their imagination and interest. Exactly what they need. Long may it continue!!!!

My life was permanently altered due to after-Secondary school electronics classes. That and my father making me a Crystal radio in a Birds Custard tin. Magic times.

I’ve considered doing more Radio but I don’t have enough stamina these days to continue the computer stuff properly. Not to mention having no test equipment or components. Maybe next time around.

Regards,

Andy.
